From revisiting familiar reading challenges to tackling new ones, I’m diving into the year with renewed determination. With goals to conquer mysteries, classic tales, and creative book hunts, 2025 is shaping up to be a thrilling literary adventure!

It’s that time of year again—time to gear up for another round of reading challenges! In 2024, I enthusiastically signed up for three challenges: Cloak and Dagger Reading Challenge, Vintage Scavenger Hunt, and Goodreads Reading Challenge. While I gave it my all, I fell a bit short of meeting all my goals. The only challenge I successfully completed was the Cloak and Dagger, where I reached my goal of reading 5-15 books to earn the title of Amateur Detective.

But with a new year comes renewed determination. For 2025, I’m ready to kick my reading habit into high gear and take on fresh challenges. Here’s what I’m diving into this year:

Cloak and Dagger Reading Challenge

This marks my second consecutive year participating in this challenge, and I’m excited to dive in again. As always, the real challenge for me isn’t just the reading—it’s writing and posting reviews, which I plan to share here on this blog. Hopefully, I can be more consistent this year and make the most of the experience!

Challenge Details: Hosted by Carol at Carol’s Notebook. Must read a book that is at least a 100 pages and falls under the mystery/suspense/thriller/crime/true crime genres and its subgenres. Crossover with other challenges is fine, and reviews need to be posted somewhere. Tag(s): #CloakDaggerChal / 2025 Cloak & Dagger Challenge

Levels:

5-15 books – Amateur sleuth –> My goal remains the same this year—hopefully, I can reach at least 15 books!

16-25 books – Detective

26-35 books – Inspector

36 – 55 books – Special agent

56+ books – Sherlock Holmes

Six Shooter Reading Challenge

This is a new challenge for me, though I’ve come across it before. The good news is that posting reviews is optional!

Challenge Details: Hosted by Rick over at Rick Mill’s Project, this challenge tasks participants with “shooting” (figuratively speaking!) 6 books by the same author to earn a notch on their literary gun. Eligible works include traditional murder mysteries, thrillers, police procedurals, young adult novels, short stories, and even mystery romances. Tag: 2025 Six-Shooter Challenge

Honorary Badges: The challenge offers three honorary badges, based upon your score. You keep your badges even if your score subsequently drops below the threshold.

    • Sharpshooter: Your score has achieved 1.000, even if it subsequently falls below that level.
    • Booksniper: Your score has achieved 2.000, even if it subsequently falls below that level.
    • Ammonuensis: Your score has achieved 3.000, even if it subsequently falls below that level.
